Need to keep up to date with what’s happening? The first newsletter for this year’s festival went out last night so if you missed it, here it is.
Still need an exhibition pass for Mobile World Congress? Our friends at MobiADNews have a couple to give away. Just click here to add your details. Or perhaps WIPJam is more your thing? If so, we have TEN free passes up for grabs for their 4-day hackathon cum unconference extravaganza. Closing date for both of these is Wednesday 12 February at 23:59 GMT (that’s tomorrow!).
Event listings are still free
You can still add your event listing here for free. I’d love it if even more people and companies can get involved. Events of all shapes and size are welcome. I don’t list anything without permission from the event organiser. If you need some help with your event or want to run an event idea past me, then just get in touch by replying to this email. And if you need somewhere to hold your event, then I highly recommend the lovely Clara at Le Rouge BCN which is our festival hangout for the week. Wifi and cava… what more do you need?!
Innovation on the Fringe is back for the third time and there are a few spaces left to demo. We’ve teamed up this year with SSN+, Changify and D4SC and you’ll be hearing about one of their current projects at the event. You’ll also get to see the three winning hacks from Hack The Ride and much more. So if you’d like a slot, then click here for more info and to apply. And if you just want to hang out and see the demos, you can get your ticket here.
If you’re an investor (VC, Corporate or Angel), then you won’t want to miss the Best of British Mobile Start-Ups Showcase brought to you by UKTI (UK Trade & Investment). It’s free to attend.
It’s the eighth, or maybe it’s the ninth (I can’t remember!) Annual Ladies of Mobile Lunch in Barcelona. We have specially selected wines for you from V&N Cellars and an exclusive pop-up dining experience from Jezebel’s Clandestine Dining with Chef Kathleen that you just can’t get anywhere else. You won’t want to miss this. Tickets available now.
If you’re a motorcycle enthusiast and arriving early for your week in Barcelona, then why not join Hack The Ride, a 24-hour hackathon to explore apps for motorbikes and their riders. Free to attend, there are some decent prizes up for grabs too. And the winners also get to present at Innovation on the Fringe.
No, I don’t mean hashtagging on twitter, or anywhere else for that matter. I’m talking about the Barcelona Hash House Harriers who are doing their monthly run on Sunday 23 February and are happy to welcome mobilists to join their session. Sounds like a great way to start the week to me. You don’t have to be a runner to join in. All levels welcome.
Swedish Beers is back on Wednesday night. Our sponsors include AQL and Adeven, once more. We’re also being supported by DS4C, Changify and SSN+. It’s going to be a busy one so there’s still room for a few more sponsors to ensure that there’s free beer for everyone. The format is the same as previous years so no ties, no formalities, no pitches. We’re at our usual haunt of Dostrece and will be open from 7pm until late. Get in touch with Helen to discuss sponsorship, including special deals for start-ups.
Well, that’s a wrap for this newsletter. See you all soon.
