Introducing this year’s Swedish Beers sponsors

I have some sponsors to announce! Hurrah! There will be beer tokens for everyone! So without further ado, let me introduce you…

Digitas LBi White Unicorn on red background logo

Our lead sponsor is DigitasLBi: DigitasLBi is a modern, data-inspired agency – the only agency designed to offer clients a complete stack of services, from integrated communications, to commerce to CRM and innovation services across the world, all driven by our data about what really counts for your business.

The mobile team is headed for Barcelona once again and this time they’re sponsoring Swedish Beers! Some of you will have already met Ilicco, Rafe and Sergio at previous Swedish Beers events or have tuned into our Choons ‘n Chat podcasts with Tech Talks Central. We’ll be doing some more podcasts this year, so watch this space as they say.

This year, DLBi is bringing more of the team along to MWC and they will be on hand to chew the fat on all things mobile – be that mobile marketing, advertising and media or innovations in hardware and software that can make a difference to their clients’ businesses. So if you want to find out what can be achieved when hard data meets imagination, then search out Ilicco, Sergio, Rafe, Lorenzo and the rest of the DLBi crew when you come to Swedish Beers! Oh, and being lead sponsor, they’ll also have the largest batch of beer tokens.

Supporting Sponsors

We also have a range of lovely supporting sponsors. Please join me in welcoming them to the party.
Headforwards LogoMeet Headforwards who are based in Cornwall, UK and specialise in software development outsourcing. Our primary aim is to work with our clients to create and deliver custom software that brings them business value. We believe in working in an Agile way and have adopted both the agile philosophy and agile methodologies into our business strategy and day to day life.
Our business model is different to most other outsource software companies. We create dedicated teams for specific projects and never switch members to other projects, nor do we have team members ‘waiting on the bench’ which ultimately drives costs up.
Meet Toby and his team and they can explain more about what they do, what agile means all whilst extolling the virtues of living and working on the stunning Cornish coastline and generally have a good time.
+++++++++++++++++++++++
Inspiring Interns logo 2017
Many of you will already know Ben Rosen and his team from Inspiring Interns and Inspiring Search. They’ve been regulars at Swedish Beers since the very first parties in London in 2001 and have supported us ever since then. You may remember their polaroids from last year’s bash. And I wonder if you still have their sunglasses?! Or perhaps you’ve joined in one of their Ping Pong competitions at our London parties? I digress.

The team is brilliant at graduate recruitment (they’ve placed over 5000 young people since 2009) and also do senior level recruitment in the mobile and digital sectors. Ben and his team are not like other recruiters (they’re much less pushy and much more human) and I can guarantee you’ll have great fun with them. I’m sure they’ll also have a few surprises up their sleeves to help us all have a good time on the night.

++++++++++++++++++++++

51 Degrees Device Detection logoNext up is 51 Degrees. James Rosewell and his team will be in Barcelona and joining us as a sponsor for the first time. So let’s make sure we give them a very warm welcome.

51 Degrees helps designers, creators and business leaders make amazing website experiences based on responsive design principles. Our software helps reduce both the cost and time involved in creating, testing and deployment of mobile websites, which means the tech never gets in the way of the user experience.

Trusted by millions of people, we have over 1.5 million active deployments in virtually every country around the world using our device detection software day in and day out including Unilever, eBay, Microsoft, IBM, Hyundai and T-Mobile use us. We are THE fastest and the most accurate device detection service there is. Our accuracy comes from our device combinations database – at over 150,000 (and growing) it’s the largest and it’s checked and updated every day, because we know that over 150 devices are launched worldwide every week. Our performance speeds are awesome too. We go direct, avoiding clouds for real time device detection. Capable of more than 5 million detections a second we’re the fastest available.

So if you want to talk about responsive design principles, mobile website deployment, new handsets and device detection, these are the people to talk to.+++++++++++++++++++++

ZZZ Corporate Accommodation will be joining us as a sponsor this year in Barcelona. They’re specialists in corporate accommodation and help clients small and large find the right places to stay. ZZZ’s was born in 2002 by Swedish Beers regular, Helen Gavine, who has a passion for quality and an annoying attention to detail! We deliver good quality corporate accommodation in the right part of town in the key exhibition cities in Europe including Cannes, Barcelona and London.

We strive on offering great service, and that can only be delivered by having the best team. The team are split between our main office in Richmond, London and overseas in Cannes and Barcelona. All the apartments are vetted personally and their service on the ground is top notch from a personal meet and greet service and welcome pack to organising events. Come and hang out with Helen, Tess and the team.

And in the meantime, if you’re still looking for somewhere to stay for this year’s Mobile World Congress or an upcoming event in Barcelona, Cannes, Lisbon or Monaco, do get in touch.
+++++++++++++++++++++

You can RSVP for the event here if you haven’t done so already. It’s free to attend for people working in and around the mobile industry.

**Fancy joining us as a sponsor? Please get in touch with Helen to discuss.**

Eventbrite - Swedish Beers - #10 Barcelona Edition, 2015

Registration now open for Swedish Beers London!

swedish beers london may14Hurrah! Your favourite mobile networking party is back in London to bring you more beer and more chat! You’ll find the party at the Victoria Park Plaza Hotel from 6.30pm onwards on Monday 19th May.

The first sponsor is confirmed – that’s our friends at Open Mobile Summit. You may have met them at the Barcelona party in February as they had a lot of beer tokens! They enjoyed meeting you so much that they’re sponsoring the party again and that means we have a new, bigger location. We’re going to be at the Victoria Park Plaza Hotel and the delegates at the Open Mobile Summit will be joining us too so there’ll be a good mix of familiar faces and new friends. Don’t worry, the party is still free to attend, it just means we have more room, and with a bit of luck, more beer too.

You can sponsor too!

I’m looking for more sponsors so talk to your FD, your CEO or whoever holds the budget and see if you can’t join in the fun too on 19th May. Just like Barcelona, I’m offering some Start-Up specials as well and if you really fancy splashing the cash, there are combined Open Mobile Summit & Swedish Beers sponsorship packages. Get in touch with me to find out more.

Like our previous events, this is a relaxed evening, no formalities, no presentations, no business cards thrust in your face as soon as you arrive. Just come with an open mind, be prepared to see friends old and new, talk nonsense, enjoy a drink or five and have yourself a good time. Oh, and leave the ties, the corporate personas and the sales spiel at the door please. The Swedish Beers crew will be on hand to welcome you and the lovely people at Open Mobile Summit and the Victoria Park Plaza have promised to look after us well.
No need to RSVP unless you want to. There’s no guest list, no tickets and there’s no guaranteed entry. Just come and go as you please.

I’ve checked the Wi-Fi and it works and even though we’re one floor down, the mobile signal seems to be good too so you’ll be able to demo your latest mobile thing whilst enjoying your beer and a chat. We’ll have the usual beer tokens and if they run out, we’ll revert to a pay bar. There is a smoking area to the left of the main entrance of the hotel and is well signposted.

So let me introduce our first sponsors….

Open Mobile Media

I’m  delighted to welcome Open Mobile Media again to sponsor the London edition of Swedish Beers. As part of their sponsorship, they’re giving away 10 Gold Passes to their upcoming Open Mobile Summit. It’s free to enter the competition and the closing date is 23:59 on Thursday 1 May 2014. More information over on the Swedish Beers blog and click here to fill in the entry form.

You don’t have to register, but if you do, you’ll get a handy email reminder of the time, date and location. And it will also give me an idea of how many are coming and keep our sponsors happy.

Looking forward to catching up with you all

Join us for breakfast at La Boqueria

Join us for breakfast on Wednesday morning. Enjoy a coffee and some breakfast, meet some of the local traders and enjoy a local tour of The Boqueria, take a few snaps, tweet a few thoughts, meet some interesting people, see mobile technology live, in action, in the wild. And all this before you have to head up to Congress. Oh, and did we mention the delicious breakfasts you can enjoy?

We’ll be discussion how local shops, market traders, cafes, restaurants and tourist desinations can be looked at afresh to take advantage of new technologies such as mobile payments, social media, internet of things and more to improve local well-being, improve revenues and engage with both the local community and visiting tourists and travellers?

LOCAL TOUR

Take a guided walk (in English with the help of a Spanish translator) through the Raval area and La Boqueria market, in particular. You’ll be checking out local businesses, markets, cafes, restaurants and more. See how mobile technology is being used by real people and hatch some new ideas about how it could be used in the neighbourhood to improve. Is tourism really killing La Boqueria and turning into a theme park? And if it is, how should the community be addressing this? Take photos and notes on your phone or on postcards to keep track of what you see and so you can share these ideas using Changify.org. There will be time for coffee and to eat breakfast at one or more of the stalls.

We are arranging for you to also meet some interesting people along the way who can talk more about how data, technology and people can create better neighbourhoods and share their own experiences.

NEW IDEAS AND PLANS

At the end of the walk we’ll review the findings from the walk and join the dots between food, eating out, shopping and making a difference. Let’s see what ideas come out of it.

Ideas fashioned by you in groups on the day go on to be posted as projects on Changify’s crowdfunding service to raise awareness, build support and find backing from friends, neighbours, local businesses, brands and local government.

This walk is open to everyone. Want to know more about these walks? Here’s the write-up from a similar one that happened in Clapton in London.

The meeting point will be the main entrance to the Boqueria market. There is no charge to attend the walk, but we encourage you to buy from the local food stalls that we will be visiting. RSVP required so we know who is coming.

Your tour guide is Cristina Guembe. She is a local Raval resident and service designer.

You will be in safe and interesting hands with this walk. It will be led by Priya Prakash, founder D4SC & Changify and Catherine Mulligan who leads the SSN+ initiative at Imperial College.

About D4SC Design for Social Change, or D4SC for short, is a Studio for hyper-local community operating systems for smart cities and citizens co-creating with brands, local business and councils to boost local economies. D4SC’s alpha product Changify is a mobile crowd powered platform for better neighbourhoods has been featured in Wired, Tedx City 2.0 and is currently in pilot phase in London. D4SC was also recently awarded the prestigious Post Office Community Enterprise fund to re-imagine and prototype the future of the local post-office. www.changify.org | http://twitter.com/D4SC

Announcing aql and Adjust sponsoring Swedish Beers

It really warms the cockles of my heart to welcome back sponsors year after year. And that’s exactly what I’m doing here now. When you get to Swedish Beers next week, you’ll need to keep your eyes open for the sponsors as they’re the ones with the free beer tokens. Go find them, and you’ll have free drinks!

In case you haven’t met them before, may I introduce (drum roll please) aql and Adjust.

aql is sponsoring us once again. Adam and his team will be on hand to chew the fat with you and generally make sure you have a lovely time. Who is aql ? Well they’re award-winning messaging specialists: They integrate mobile messaging and voice communications into your existing business processes. It just works. They have a rather fabulous data centre too in Leeds in a converted Methodist Church. That means you can also colocate securely in their datacentre (it is like Fort Knox in there!). They serve over a quarter of the FTSE100 and are as happy to work with SMEs as they are large corporates and public sector. They really are one of the friendliest bunch of people you could hope to meet and they really do know their mobile stuff – and not just the stuff they do. They really understand your business too.

You may remember Adeven from last year’s Swedish Beers party and the one we held in Berlin last summer (the beer garden was lovely!). Well, they’ve rebranded as Adjust. They’ll tell you much more about it at Swedish Beers. Wanna talk analytics? Adjust.io is the way to go.

Mobile app tracking and analytics company adeven is rebranding to take on the identity of its driver product, adjust which is the leading business intelligence platform for mobile apps. As an official Facebook mobile measurement partner that is also integrated with over 120 other networks worldwide adjust ensures that marketers and publishers know exactly how their app is performing, absolutely anywhere that they choose to market it. Their BI platform displays insightful and actionable metrics on a streamlined dashboard offering key insights into in-app behaviour to reveal any campaigns most promising marketing sources.

Watch out for further sponsor and supporter announcements…

And if you haven’t registered already, or would like more information, then you can do that here.

BYOD time tonight at Swedish Beers LDN

Yes, Swedish Beers is happening tonight in London Town and it looks like it will be a good one.

The theme of the night is BYOD. It’s an acronym that has been running through the mobile industry recently, especially amongst enterprises. What’s that you say? BYOD – Buy your own drinks. Not to be confused with Bring your own device…

Yes, it’s a buy your own drinks night tonight, but don’t let that put you off. The Nordic Bar are looking forward to welcoming you and there’ll be a good crowd there with friendly faces and mobile banter. I hear tell that it’s also 2 for 1 on cocktails. I know what I’ll be having later 🙂

Mobile Makreting MagazineNever fear though. There will be a few beer tokens lurking on the night. If you speak nicely to the Mobile Marketing Magazine guys, they will have a few tokens for the early birds. And they’ll also have the latest issue of the magazine to give away which includes columns by Mobile Hero, Russell Buckley and our very own Helen Keegan.

You may also find that there are a few beer tokens courtesy of our friends at the Payforit Summit. It’s a new Heroes of Mobile partner event (you can find out about it here) and they’ve given Helen a bit of cash to buy a few rounds. So you may be able to blag a free drink yet…

Looking forward to seeing you tonight.

First we take Manhattan, then we take Berlin!

That’s right people. To misquote Leonard Cohen, we were in Manhattan 10 days ago and now we’re headed to Berlin. Tomorrow! We have a couple of things lined up for you. First up is a panel discussion tomorrow afternoon looking at Where Mobile Meets Media in Berlin. We’ll be talking about the opportunities in Germany and also the international scene. We’ll look at monetisation and marketing and we’ll share some insights about where the German publishing industry is and where we think it’s all going. If there’s time, we’ll even have a few demos to share with you. That’s all going to be at Futurice’s Berlin office on Schützenstraße 6, 10117 Berlin. Free to attend and we have room for about 40 in total. The aim is to keep it intimate to allow for good conversation as we know there’s as much insight in the audience as there will be on the panel. Doors open at 2.30pm for a 3.15pm start.

Then in the evening, as the weather forecast is so good, we’re going outdoors for Swedish Beers. We’ve booked some space at Golgatha in Victoria Park from 6pm. Join our sponsors Somo, Futurice and Adeven for a few beers, some sunshine and some mobile chat. The first few beers are on them and then we’ll revert to a pay bar. What’s not to like about a few beers in the sun and putting the mobile world to rights!

Please RSVP for each event if you’d like to join us.
